Traveller's Tales

Blackpool Run 2005
Amazing weather provided a perfect day for a big mini run starting
from various northern locations to congregate on Preston, and then
on to Blackpool, and join in on a quintessential British Transport
event.

its return to Lorien.
Mr. Glendinning's pride and joy is constructed and reborn.

Lakes Tour 2004
Now becoming a regular major event, the Lakes Tour took place
in June, run by the Mini Mad Merseyside club. Its route took
a slightly more north-westerly route on the outbound leg, which
with the beautiful weather, made a very pleasant run.

Mini in the Park 2004
Once again, we went to MITP for the 45th anniversary meeting, this
time at Silverstone. The show was not only sizeable, but also very
interesting, particularly for the minimaster staff who accompanied
us.

Emergency assistance for the RAC
In November, a couple of RAC rallies were being held: the Roger Albert
Clark memorial rally, and the Lombard RAC Revival Rally. Chris Day brought in
his mini on the second leg from Carlisle to Chester in the Revival Rally.

By the seaside, beside the sea...
The summer saw a hugely successful first run of a charity event for
mini fans in the North. Around 120 minis congregated on the north
side of the Blackpool peninsular to soak up the rays.

Lights, Camera, Action!
Mini Magazine came to visit in April to do an article on Minimaster
and our famous mini van. We take a "behind-the-scenes" look at the
setting for what turned out to be a very interesting article.

Leaping into rallying...
Our mini was converted into a rally car, and competed in the
Pendragon 2004 rally. At the same time, Minimaster hosted
the event's scrutineering post.

Mini 45
A rather neat idea for a celebration mini, this beauty was specially
commissioned to celebrate the 45th Anniversary. Continuing the theme,
we are looking for ideas for the S and SE version!

Flaming Mini
Neil's pride and joy, recently recovered from a rather ill-fated
encounter with a body shop in Glossop, came to Minimaster to be
sorted. Being difficult to drive, John set to work to weave his
magic once again.

Irish Magic
Minimaster once again spun a spell this time on a lovely Wolseley Hornet
for a very proud owner from Northern Ireland. Being a special edition,
it had the full treatment to produce one of our more satisfying restorations
in 2003.

Tahiti Dreams
Tom set his heart on realising his dream mini, so when time came
to renovate his mini Tahiti, no expense was spared. First the
body was done, then the engine and then the suspension. The result:
a mini so good, it was featured in Mini Magazine.

Cooper Reconstruction
One of our larger restoration centre jobs was Nick's Cooper. Using
his old 1.3i mini as a donor car, we created a new Cooper to his
precise specifications: and what a car!

Our Mini Van
Over the last 18 months, we have been building our mini van.
Summer saw its first outing to MITP. We show the work that
went into its restoration.

Pinkology - a personalised mini
As a member of a rather exclusive club, Pinkology is a minimaster
personalised mini done specially for a geologist with a thing about
the colour pink.

Now that it is in, we reflect on the trials and tribulations
of putting in the MOT bay, and what it took to jump the hurdles.

Sprinting to Victory...
For the second year running, we win the BOC Northern Sprint Championship
in the road going cars under 1400cc.

Lakes Tour Shoot Out
Five minis turned up for a shoot out as a nice end to the Lakes Tour
in June 2003. We picture them on the rolling road.

Our annual trip to MITP this year was a special one being the first outing
for our van. Sadly the trip was marred by food poisoning.

Cabriolet Conversion
Chippy does it again, converting a very delapidated mini cabriolet into
a custom hot cab for one of our favourite customers, Martin.

VW Car Club Shoot Out - 28/Aug/2002
Another major car club meets at Minimaster to do a shoot out. This
time its a dozen high-powered Volkswagon vehicles.

Traveller reborn - Part II
In the second part of the series, Anne's traveller has returned
from the paint shop and as a result in a change of strategy, is
now undergoing a full concourse restoration.

At Mini in the Park 2002
Once again, we make the summer trip to Mini Mecca to Mini in the Park.
Its a rare outing for our "La Femme" and we have the pleasure of
seeing one of our customer's vehicles in the concours competition.

VPCC Shoot out - 20/Jul/2002
The national Vauxhall Performance Car Club visited minimaster on
July 20th for a shoot out. 12 modified and some highly tuned
vehicles came to find out who was the most powerful.

Traveller reborn - Part I
Anne's very own MkI Traveller gets the full treatment for
showing at Mini in the Park 2002 with the Border City
Mini club. This is the first of a series of articles
tracking its rebuild.

Elven Immortality
This winter saw the restoration of Mr. Vidler's magnificent
Riley Elf to a near-concourse condition. The owner's great excitement
on taking his treasured car to Norway in June gave us the
satisfaction of returning another classic to the road.

August saw the annual trip to Oxfordshire for a short break and
a busman's holiday excursion to Mini Magazine's
Mini in the Park.

Minimaster At Lloyds Rover
To celebrate the mini and its place in history, Minimaster displayed
its collection of classic minis at Lloyd Rover in Carlisle in Sept 2000.

Picking up the S-Works
Still a very memorable day for us, picking up our very
special S-Works from John Cooper himself in Sept 1999.
Our journey took us to Ferring with detours on the way
back via Wembley and the Hard Rock Cafe.
We are so proud of this that it has become the flagship
of the Minimaster collection.

Mini 40 on display
Securing one of the last Mini-40s, we try to take a
few flattering photos, but it proves to be a little
shy. This is Anne's little favourite, and its a
pleasure to drive: smooth, quiet and comfortable.
