As a taxi driver in Northern Ireland, Mr. Adair came
to Minimaster to have a bit of magic cast on his old Woseley Hornet. This one,
however, was quite a special one with a Radford interior. It has a custom rear seat
specially shortened for kids to sit in the back. We've never seen anything like
it before, and we suspect it to be a one-off and quite unique.
The car was stripped right down to reveal how the
rust monster had been at play. The body was in a real mess, and it needed to
undergo the full treatment to make it like new.
As is the process, the car was stripped down and the
interior cleaned off and put away. In this case, the leather seats and
door cards all went away to be hand re-upholstered in cream leather.
The hide for it was specially ordered and prepared! The engine and subframes
were also dropped out, and the engine given a thorough strip down and
rebuild.
The body work was then completely restored, with
some new panels particularly the A-panels and wings, and extensive repairs
to the boot, floor and wheel arches. Many special repairs had to be done,
which took quite a bit of time, as many of the panels are now not available.
The car was then taken to the paint shop where it was
sprayed in its original light-green and white. It looked fabulous when it came
back. The car was then waxoiled and reassembled, and in went the refurbished
engine.
Then all the dash (also specially renovated), the windows,
the carpets, and finally the plush leather interior were refitted to create a
beautiful-looking car. The Hornet was then MOT'd and prepared to be taken away
as Mr and Mrs Adair had come specially all the way from Craigavon, NI.
Anne made the day special for them (as she always does), and off
they went, but not without shedding some real tears of joy!
We've since had a really nice Christmas
card giving us an update. We look forward to seeing them over the summer.
If you ever need a taxi in Craigavon, look for a green Hornet!
