Collecting the S-Works

Outside John Coopers

Picking up the mini from the man himself!

September 17th was our big day picking up our very own S-Works (No. 28 of 250) from John Cooper Garages. We had arranged to meet both Mike and John, which was a really special moment for us. Anne and John can be seen here with John Cooper outside the East Ferring garage.

Check final details with Richard De Jong

We stopped by the Ferring garage to hand over the loot and sign the final documents. We also took the opportunity to oggle over H15 FUN, fresh from its visit to Silverstone (Mini@40).

And so the great trek back up north...

On Photoshoot at the twin towers!

At Wembley

Strictly for the album, we risked arrest to get a few good shots outside the twin towers. What's the point of having a mini if you don't make use of its size advantage to outmanoevre bollards...! It didn't take long for the heavy-squad to move us though.

Stopping at our favourite cafe!

Izzy posing!

A family snapshot outside the legendary Hard Rock, and introducing Izzy the bear - probably the naughtiest bear in the world! By now Izzy had become hungry and irritable, and it took all our effort to calm him down. A Hard Rock T-shirt did the trick though!

Back at home!

As you might expect, the S-works takes centre stage at our workshop. We take some time to take a few shots.

Back at the garage... Under the hood
From the back The interior

In Summary

Despite some teething difficulties, we are really pleased with this little package. The interior and style is stunning - we really love the cream leather and top roll; it makes it look a million dollars.

The stereo is great too, though its just as well as when you give it some welly, the roar from the JanSpeed exhaust is loud!

Performance is great moving up the gears. It leaps forward and the Jack Knight box ratios are almost perfect for it. Slightly disappointing is top-end performance (though this will improve as the engine loosens off). In our opinion the mixture feels weak, and we can only assume that one of the sensors feeding the ECU is working at the edges of its tolerance.

Overall though, its a goodie.
